  1. This is a good guide and help but a lot of these guides miss some essential starting points. First, always consider the user case. Do you use a subwoofer for music? or music and movies? Or movies only? For movies the aim should be more low extension and a crossover that exceeds 80hz is not necessary. Second: when testing source music, consider that a lot of music is produced differently. For instance, old jazz records have a lot less bass than modern dance music. This means its also essential to write down what music source you will be playing. If its only one genre its easy to setup. If you like different genres, you need to find a compromise. Third: 1 subwoofer the subwoofer crawl is needed, but with 2 subwoofers they cancel each other out and placing is much less crucial and you can put them in corners and such. If you dont heed these points, quite quickly you might get a wrong setup, get bored and throw away. A last point: even very big floor standing speakers that go realy low to 30hz on paper, will do that much less below 100hz or so vs a subwoofer. Therefore, sometimes a higher crossover is better and helps placement. 80hz is good point to start but 100,110,130hz are known to work well too.
